Pattern Review: The Frankie tshirt

Another #2018makenine is ticked off my list!  This time, I used t-shirting from my stash to try out the new Tilly and the Buttons book Stretch!

Details

  • Pattern name: Frankie t-shirt – Stretch! book
  • Variation/Style: Short sleeved
  • Design House: Tilly and the Buttons / Tilly Walnes
  • Size I made: 4

Fabric

T-shirting I got from Fabricland well over a year ago…

Difficulty

While it is a simple make, it is slightly more challenging than a basic beginner’s pattern as t-shirting is not as stable as other knit fabrics.  I was concerned about the raglan sleeves, but they turned out to be simple.  The curved hem is a bit challenging, but I used some hemming tape to keep it in place as I sewed.

Clarity

The instructions are really clear and helpful.  I didn’t go wrong at any point and it is probably due to the directions being so well laid out in the book.

Fit

I made a straight size 4.  I didn’t make any adjustments and I find it’s a comfortable fit.

Design

This t-shirt is very comfortable.  I’m a big fan of raglan sleeves and they’re beautiful ones on this pattern.  The curved hem (with a lower back hem) is a lovely feature too.  It’s a decent length too.

Time Taken

I completed this top in half a day, which included tracing the pieces out, and I’m not a fast sewer!  It’s a really quick make.

Conclusion

I love this top and can’t wait to make more with other fabrics in my stash!

I recorded a review of the pattern as well:
